Is sandy soil near Skaha Lake good for a septic field?
It's a mixed blessing. Sand drains beautifully, but a drain field also has to treat the effluent — and very fast-draining sand doesn't give the soil enough contact time to do that job, especially near a lake. The fix is usually timed dosing or drip dispersal that meters the effluent out slowly. A percolation test and soil profile tell us which approach your lot needs.

Careful with this one. A residential septic system is designed for the home's wastewater flows — anything commercial, including tasting-room or production wastewater, is a separate question with its own rules. My rural Penticton system is 30+ years old. Repair or replace?
At 30-plus years, the drain field is usually the deciding factor. Tanks, pumps and controls can often be repaired or swapped, but a field that's hydraulically failed has to be replaced — there's no patching it.
